Richmond, North Tipperary
Richmond is also called Cill Ó Sealbhaigh in Gaelic. It is located in Ormond Lower, North Tipperary, in central Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of Monsea, north west of Nenagh. It is part of Templemore, a small settlement with a population of approximately 2000.
A Brief History
The earliest recorded history of the Templemore dates from the 5th century A.D. The town was established by Sir John Carden (second baronet Templemore). McCan Barracks, which were originally called 'Richmond Barracks' were constructed on land which Sir Carden donated.
The ruins of Richmond House and its entrance pillars and railings appear on North Tipperary County Council’s Record of Protected Structures.
